Alienware laptops customizable after purchase?

I was wondering if i can open up alienware laptops to change the RAM in it,im getting an alienware M11X with 4GB of RAM and i was wondering if later on could i upgrade the RAM on it by opening it up? and does it void the warranty or anything?
